Spirituality

At OLMC we take seriously the universal call to holiness (Second Vatican Council LG #39). Each one of us is called to grow deeply in our spiritual life. Prayer is a journey to a intimate relationship through the Son with the Holy Spirit to the heart of the Father. Here are several ways our parish helps each man and woman to grow in their spiritual life:

Mercedarian Third Order

The Mercedarian Third Order is an association of lay people integrated into the Mercedarian family, which participates in the Order’s redemptive spirit. Members of the Third Order know and cherish the spiritual treasure of the Order so they are able to realize the Mercedarian ideal, according to the directives of the Church and of the Order, in keeping with their concrete circumstances. Candidates to the Lay Fraternity undergo a period of formation that teaches them about the spirituality, charism, history, and apostolate of the Order. There are many spiritual privileges attached to belonging to the Third Order. They also share in the merits of the prayers and good works of all the members of the Mercedarian Order.
